GLOBAL STUDIES
What do we do?
The Watkinson School's Global Studies Program is a dual-diploma program based around the goal of educating students on global issues: political, social, and environmental, with a focus on current events, exploring very different cultures and ideas, and inspiring the next generation of activists, entrepreneurs, engineers, and community leaders.

What have we done?

Visiting Woodstock, learning, and writing reflections about the impact of the social movements of the 1960s on modern American politics, pop culture, and everyday life.
Attending religious ceremonies and practices of different faiths in order to understand the various different outlooks presented by different people and how they can co-exist in a beautiful way.
Learning about modern protest movements, their methods, reasons, outcomes, benefits, and influence on the next generation of young activists.
Watching and listening to multiple foreign dignitaries and speakers, such as the Mexican ambassador to the U.S. Estebán Moctezuma Barragán, as well as discussions about sportswashing (governments using major sporting events to cover up domestic issues) and the recent issue of transgender athletes.
